NEWS May 23, 1997 MANIA K. BAGHDADI APPOINTED ASSISTANT DIVISION CHIEF (LAW), POLICY AND RULES DIVISION, MASS MEDIA BUREAU Mania Kleinburd Baghdadi has been appointed Assistant Chief (Law) of the Policy and Rules Division, Mass Media Bureau, effective May 11, 1997. Ms. Baghdadi joined the Commission in April 1994 as a staff attorney in the Legal Branch of the Policy and Rules Division and has worked on the digital television and broadcast attribution proceedings, among other matters. Prior to joining the Commission, she was an associate for three years with the law firm of Fletcher Heald & Hildreth, as well as an associate with the law firm of Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn (1979-88). Ms. Baghdadi received a B.A. degree in History, cum laude, from Brooklyn College, in Brooklyn, New York, as well as M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in History from Brown University. She was a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, 1975-76. She received a J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Arizona State University College of Law, where she was a Comment Editor for and published an administrative law-related article in the Arizona State Law Journal. Ms. Baghdadi resides in Potomac, Maryland with her husband, Aslan, a patent lawyer, and three children, David (currently a student at Brown University), Sarah, and Jonathan. - FCC -
