NEWS March 20, 1996 JENNIFER A. WARREN NAMED ASSISTANT BUREAU CHIEF IN WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU; TROY TANNER BECOMES INTERNATIONAL BUREAU SENIOR LEGAL ADVISOR. Jennifer Warren, Senior Legal Advisor to International Bureau Chief Scott Blake Harris, has joined the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau as Assistant Bureau Chief starting March 11, 1996. In announcing Ms. Warren's departure, Mr. Harris declared, "Jennifer has been an integral force behind the International Bureau's accomplishments since its creation. Her extensive background in European affairs and her sound judgment are enormous assets. She has been a valued member of the Bureau, and we wish her all the best in her exciting new position." Ms. Warren's promotion caps a near five-year tenure at the Commission specializing in international telecommunications policy. Prior to joining the FCC, Ms. Warren worked at the Commission of the European Communities focusing on competition policy. Before her post in Europe, she worked at the E.C. Delegation in Washington, D.C. as a Trade Assistant to the First Secretary of Trade. A graduate of Georgetown University and the Georgetown University Law Center, Ms. Warren is a member of the Illinois and Washington, D.C. Bars. She is also an active member of the Federal Communications Bar Association and its Foundation, as well as Co-chair of the Communications Law Forum of the Women's Bar Association of D.C. and Member of the Steering Committee of the Computer and Telecommunications Law Section of the D.C. Bar. Mr. Troy F. Tanner, currently a senior attorney-advisor in the Bureau's Telecommunications Division, will become the Senior Legal Advisor to the Bureau Chief. In announcing Mr. Tanner's appointment, Mr. Harris said, "Troy has been responsible for many of the most dramatic changes made by the Bureau over the last year. I am thrilled that he is willing to work as my legal advisor." Mr. Tanner has been with the Commission since 1991. Prior to joining the FCC, he spent 3« years in private practice with the communications law firm of Reddy, Begley and Martin. While at the FCC, Mr. Tanner has worked on several Commission proceedings focusing on questions of U.S. market entry by foreign entities. He also spearheaded the Commission's recent proceeding streamlining the international Section 214 authorization process. He received his law degree from George Washington University and graduated with a B.A. in International Relations with Honors from Brigham Young University. Mr. Tanner is also an active member of the FCBA, and the Co-chair of the Telecommunications Committee of the D.C. Bar's Computer and Telecommunications Law Section. - FCC -
