PUBLIC NOTICE Federal Communications Commission 1919 M St., N.W. Washington, D.C. 20554 DA 97-600 Released: March 21, 1997 MASS MEDIA BUREAU ANNOUNCES REVISED PROCEDURE REGARDING ASSIGNMENT AND TRANSFER CONSUMMATION DEADLINES In a continuing effort to reduce paperwork burdens on both applicants and staff, the Mass Media Bureau announces the following change in its policy concerning consummation deadlines. FCC Form 732, which is used to notify parties of Commission approval of assignment and transfer applications, currently states that parties must consummate transactions within 60 days of the date that the transaction is approved by the Commission. The Mass Media Bureau hereby modifies that policy to permit parties to consummate within 90 days from the date of Commission approval of the transaction. This modification will provide parties with more flexibility to set closing dates in accordance with business accounting procedures and decrease the need to file extension of time requests with Commission staff. The modification applies to transactions involving either audio or video services and is effective as of the date of this Public Notice. Therefore, notwithstanding the 60 day requirement currently on FCC Form 732, parties may rely on this public notice as authority to consummate transactions within 90, rather than 60, days.
