In response to a petition filed by Vermont Community Radio ("petitioner"), the Commission has before it the Notice of Proposed Rule Making, 15 FCC Rcd 15912 (2000), proposing the allotment of Channel 223A to Fair Haven, Vermont, as the community's first local aural service. Neither the petitioner nor any other party filed comments in response to the Notice. 2. As stated in the Notice, a showing of continuing interest is required before a channel will be allotted and thus it is the Commission's general policy to refrain from making an allotment absent such an expressed intention to apply for the channel. Therefore, since no such continuing interest has been expressed here, we will dismiss petitioner's proposal. 3. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, That the petition of Vermont Community Radio (RM-9935) requesting the allotment of Channel 223A to Fair Haven, Vermont, IS DISMISSED. 4. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That this proceeding IS TERMINATED. 5. For further information concerning this proceeding, contact Leslie K. Shapiro, Mass Media Bureau, (202) 418-2180.
