At the request of ALALATEX ("petitioner"), the Commission has before it the Notice of Proposed Rule Making, , 14 FCC Rcd 458 (1999), proposing the allotment of Channel 252A at Sioux Rapids, Iowa, as the community's second local FM transmission service. On January 25, 1999, petitioner filed comments requesting the dismissal of its petition for rule making. 2. As stated in the Notice, a showing of continuing interest is required before a channel can be allotted, and absent such an expression of interest, it is the Commission's policy to refrain from allotting the channel. Therefore, we will grant petitioner's request to dismiss its petition. 3. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, That the petition for rule making filed by ALALATEX, IS DISMISSED. 4.
