 By the Chief, Allocations Branch:
 
 1.  In response to a petition filed by Tony Downes ("Downes"), the Commission has before it
 for consideration the Notice of Proposed Rule Making, 13 FCC Rcd 20872 (1998), seeking the
 allotment of Channel 249A at Cross City, Florida, as that community's second FM broadcast
 service.  Comments were filed by Dickerson Broadcasting, Inc. ("DBI").  No expressions of
 interest were filed in response to the Notice stating an intent to file an application for a channel at
 Cross City, Florida.
 
 2.  As stated in the Notice, a showing of continuing interest is required before a channel will
 be allotted.  It is the Comission's general policy to refrain from making allotments to a community
 absent an expression of interest.  Therefore, since there has been no such interest here, we will
 dismiss Downes' proposal.
 
 3.       Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, That the petition of Tony Downes, proposing the allotment
 of Channel 249A to Cross City, Florida, IS HEREBY DISMISSED.
 
 4.  IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That this proceeding IS TERMINATED.
