At the request of Mark A. Zweig ("petitioner"), the Commission has before it the Notice of Proposed Rule Making,12 FCC Rcd 3729 (1997), proposing the allotment of Channel 240A to Mansura, Louisiana. Petitioner filed comments restating its intention to apply for Channel 240A, if allotted. No other comments were received. 2. We believe the public interest would be served by allotting Channel 240A to Mansura since it would provide the community with its first local aural transmission service. Mansura is incorporated and listed in the U.S. Census with a population of 1,601. Petitioner stated that Mansura has businesses including a theater, drug store, funeral home , dentist and lawyer offices, and a health clinic. Mansura, therefore, qualifies as a community for allotment purposes. Channel 240A can allotted to Mansura in compliance with the Commission's minimum distance separation requirements without the imposition of a site restriction. 3. Accordingly, pursuant to the authority contained in Sections 4(i),5(c)(1), 303(g) and (r) and 307(b) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, and Sections 0.61, 0.204(b) and 0.283 of the Commission's Rules, IT IS ORDERED, That effective September 22, 1997, the FM Table of Allotments, Section 73.202(b) of the Commission's Rules, IS AMENDED, with respect to the community listed below, to read as follows: City Channel No. Mansura, Louisiana 240A 4. The window period for filing applications for Channel 240A at Mansura will open on September 22, 1997, and close on October 23 , 1997. 5. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That this proceeding IS TERMINATED. 6.
