  By the Chief, Allocations Branch:
  
    1.In response to a petition filed by West Wind Broadcasting ("West Wind"), the Commission
  has before it for consideration the Notice of Proposed Rule Making, released April 18, 1997,
  seeking the allotment of Channel 289A to Victor, Montana, as that community's first local
  broadcast service.    No  comments were received from West Wind or any other party stating an
  intention to file an application for Channel 280A at Victor, Montana.
  
    2.As stated in the Notice, a showing of continuing interest is required before a channel will
  be allotted, and absent such an expression of interest, it is the Commission's policy to refrain from
  allotting a channel.  Therefore, West Wind's request to allot Channel 280A to Victor, Montana,
  will be dismissed.
            
    3.Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, That the request of West Wind Broadcasting  to allot
  Channel 280A to Victor, Montana, IS DISMISSED.
