Before the Commission for consideration is the Notice of Proposed Rule Making, (Notice), 11 FCC Rcd (1996), adopted November 22, 1996 (DA 96-1956), issued in response to a petition for rule making filed on behalf of Greers Ferry Broadcasting ("petitioner"), proposing the allotment of Channel 256A to Pangburn, Arkansas, as that community's first local aural transmission service. Petitioner filed supporting comments in response to the Notice. No other comments were received. 2. In view of the interest expressed in providing a first local aural transmission service to Pangburn, Arkansas, we will allot Channel 256A to that community, as requested. 3. As stated in the Notice, Channel 256A can be allotted to the incorporated community of Pangburn consistent with the minimum distance separation requirements of Section 73.207(b)(1) of the Commission's Rules, provided the transmitter is located at least 3.1 kilometers (1.9 miles) northeast of the community, utilizing coordinates 35-26-52 and 91-48- 57. 4. Accordingly, pursuant to the authority contained in Sections 4(i), 5(c)(1), 303(g) and (r) and 307(b) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, and Sections 0.61, 0.204(b) and 0.283 of the Commission's Rules, IT IS ORDERED, That effective June 23, 1997, the FM Table of Allotments, Section 73.202(b) of the Commission's Rules, IS AMENDED to include Pangburn, Arkansas, as follows: City Channel No. Pangburn, Arkansas 256A 5. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That this proceeding IS TERMINATED. 6. The window period for filing applications for Channel 256A at Pangburn, Arkansas, will open on June 23, 1997, and close on July 24, 1997. 7.
