NEWSReport No. MM 95-87 MASS MEDIA ACTION September 1, 1995 COMMISSION AFFIRMS DECISION TO RENEW LICENSE OF WMAX (AM), KENTWOOD, MI, SUBJECT TO REPORTING CONDITIONS, AND TO FINE THE STATION $7,500 FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE EEO RULE The Commission has affirmed its decision to renew the license of WMAX (AM), Kentwood, MI, subject to reporting conditions, and to fine the station $7,500 for violations of the EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) rule. In denying the petition for reconsideration of The Michigan State Conferences of Branches of the NAACP, the Commission found that the NAACP did not demonstrate that the original decision contained any material error or omission. In denying the licensee's request for rescission of the forfeiture, the Commission found that the information submitted by WMAX (AM) did not establish that the station was unable to pay.
