FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE News Media Contact: April 25, 2000 Rosemary Kimball (202) 418-0500 CLARIFICATION: FILING OF EEO BROADCAST AND CABLE INITIAL ELECTION STATEMENT Washington, D.C. -- As stated in the April 21, 2000 news release, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a new Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) form, the Broadcast and Cable Initial Election Statement. The Initial Election Statement form and complete instructions for completing the form are available from the FCC's web site at http:/www.fcc.gov/forms. This week the FCC will also mail the Initial Election Statement form with an explanatory cover letter to all broadcast and cable entities. All broadcast station employment units and cable employment units (regardless of size) must file the Initial Election Statement form with the FCC. Broadcast station employment units with less than five full-time employees should send in the form, but only certify that they employed less than five full-time employees. Cable employment units with less than six full-time employees should send in the form, but only certify that they employed less than six full-time employees. Broadcast station employment units with five or more full-time employees and cable employment units with six or more full-time employees are required to complete the entire form by choosing one of the two recruitment options Option A or Option B. Two copies of the form must be filed with the FCC by June 2, 2000. Once the election form is filed, stations must place a copy in their public files.
