FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: News Media contact: December 15, 1999 David Fiske (202) 418-0513 COMMISSION ADOPTS AN ORDER APPROVING APPLICATIONS FOR CONSENT TO ASSIGN WQEX(TV), CHANNEL *16, PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, AND WPCB-TV, CHANNEL 40, GREENSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA Washington The Federal Communications Commission today adopted an order approving an application for consent to assign the license of noncommercial educational television station WQEX(TV), Channel *16, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from WQED Pittsburgh to Cornerstone TeleVision, Inc., license of station WPCB-TV, Channel 40, Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and the contingent application for consent to assign the license of station WPCB- TV from Cornerstone TeleVision, Inc. to Paxson Pittsburgh, License, Inc. The order denies a petition to deny both assignment applications, denies another related petition, and resolves all issues raised in these and all other filings in this matter. The order also provides additional guidance regarding the programming requirements applicable to all entities, including Cornerstone TeleVision, Inc., that hold or seek to obtain a noncommercial educational television license.
