NEWSReport No. MM 95-27 MASS MEDIA ACTION March 16, 1995 FORFEITURE IN WREM(AM), MONTICELLO, ME, PROCEEDING REDUCED TO $2,500 The Commission has reduced from $10,000 to $2,500 a forfeiture issued to Benito Rish, licensee of AM station WREM, Monticello, ME. The $10,000 forfeiture was assessed for transferring control of the station without prior Commission approval. In reducing the forfeiture to $2,500, the Commission noted that WREM is a 5,000 watt directional daytime-only radio station licensed to a community of 425 people. It said these factors suggest an inherently low station value. The Commission noted that WREM was the only station licensed to Monticello. Given these circumstances, as well as the apparently unprofitable history of the facility, it said, a forfeiture of $2,500 would adequately deter future misconduct. Action by the Commission March 9, 195, by Memorandum Opinion and Order (FCC 95- 103).
