Subject:   FCC Responsibilities

Hello to all:

I heard Reed Hunt's speech last week to the National Press Club,
and was very encouraged by the content and tenor of his remarks. 
As the mother of a
12-year-old, I agree wholeheartedly with his proposition that the
FCC has the right and the responsibility to require that
broadcasters devote resources "in the public interest",
particularly as this relates to children.  I further recognize
that this is wide open to interpretation, which calls for the
"specific language" mentioned by Mr. Hunt.  I encourage you to
proceed with great vigor in your campaign to require responsible,
specific actions in order for all broadcasters to receive FCC
licensing, and damn the torpedoes coming from the lobbyists!
