COMSAT Corporation File Nos. 4/5/6-SAT-P-98 Comsat Corporation has filed three applications for authority to participate in a program for the construction of up to three high capacity INTELSAT IX satellites (INTELSAT 903, INTELSAT 904 and INTELSAT 905). These INTELSAT IX satellites are specifically targeted to provide replacement capacity for the INTELSAT VI satellites. Under the proposal, INTELSAT 903 and INTELSAT 904 would replace two INTELSAT VI satellite in the Atlantic Ocean Region at 335.5ø E.L. and 325.5ø E.L., and INTELSAT 905 would function as a system spare to be located at 332.5ø E.L. or, in the event of a launch failure, would be used a replacement satellite. Informative: On September 30, 1997, CTA Incorporated submitted a letter withdrawing its pending applications to construct, launch and operate a satellite system in the Non-Voice, Non- Geostationary Mobile-Satellite Service -- File Nos. 23-SAT-P/LA-95, 88-SAT-AMEND-95, 42-SAT-AMEND-96, and 110-SAT-AMEND-97.
