                 APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FOR FILING

     The applications listed below have been found, upon initial review, to be acceptable for
filing.  The Commission reserves the right to return any of the applications if, upon further
examination, it is determined the application is not in conformance with the Commission's Rules
or its policies.  Petitions, oppositions and other pleadings filed in response to this notice should
conform to Section 25.154 of the Commission's rules, unless otherwise noted.  47 C.F.R.

        EchoStar Satellite Corporation     File No. 92-SAT-STA-97
        Directsat Corporation              File No. 93-SAT-STA-97
        
          EchoStar Satellite Corporation and Directsat Corporation have filed Requests
          for Special Temporary Authority to operate unused capacity on the DBS
          satellite located at 119ø W.L.  In particular, EchoStar seeks authority to operate
          channels 23, 25, 27, 29 and 31 and Directsat seeks authority to operate
          channels 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 and 32.

          Comsat Corporation has filed a "Further Supplement" to its pending application
          to participate in the procurement of up to four INTELSAT VIII satellites
          (INTELSAT 803, 804, 805 and 806).  The Further Supplement additional
          technical and financial information concerning the INTELSAT 805 and 806
          satellites. 
        
          Interested parties may file comments or petitions on COMSAT's applications
          on or before August 13, 1997.  Reply comments or oppositions to petitions
          may be filed on or before August 20, 1997.  Replies to oppositions may be
          filed on or before August 27, 1997.
