                 APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FOR FILING

     The applications listed below have been found, upon initial review, to be acceptable for
filing.  The Commission reserves the right to return any of the applications if, upon further
examination, it is determined the application is not in conformance with the Commission's Rules
or its policies.  Petitions, oppositions and other pleadings filed in response to this notice should
conform to Section 25.154 of the Commission's rules, unless otherwise noted.  47 C.F.R.

          Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service:
          
          Satellite CD Radio, Inc.       File No. 71-SAT-AMEND-97
          
          As required in Report No. AUC 97-05 (released April 2, 1997), Satellite CD
          Radio, Inc. (CD Radio) has filed an amendment to its application to construct,
          launch and operate two satellites in the Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service
          (Satellite DARS).  CD Radio proposes to operate two satellites in the 2320-2332.5
          MHz (downlink) and 7060-7072.5 MHz (feeder link) frequency bands at 80ø W.L.
          and 110ø W.L. CD Radio proposes to offer all services on a non-common carrier
          basis.  
          
          American Mobile Radio Corporation File No. 72-SAT-AMEND-97
          
          As required in Report No. AUC 97-05 (released April 2, 1997), American Mobile
          Radio Corporation (AMRC) has filed an amendment to its application to construct,
          launch and operate two satellites in the Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service
          (Satellite DARS).  AMRC proposes to operate two satellites in the 2332.5-2345
          MHz (downlink) and 7025-7075 MHz (feeder link) frequency bands at 85ø W.L.
          and 115ø W.L.  AMRC proposes to offer all services on a non-common carrier
          basis.  
                    
          Fixed-Satellite Service:
          
          Hughes Communications Galaxy, Inc.File No. 63-SAT-AMEND-97
          
          Hughes Communications Galaxy, Inc. (Hughes) has filed an amendment to its
          proposed Galaxy VIII(I) fixed communications satellite.  (See File Nos. 47-DSS-
          P/LA-P-94; CSS-94-018.)  Hughes seeks authority to use 250 MHz of downlink
          spectrum in the 11.7-11.95 GHz bands and 250 MHz of the downlink spectrum at
          11.45-11.7 GHz, currently used by Galaxy III(H) and proposed in the Galaxy
          VIII(I) application, respectively, for a full 500 MHz of downlink spectrum to
          ensure sufficient capacity to meet the needs of Galaxy Latin America's customers.

          (1)  The following application is removed from Public Notice, Report No. SPB-82
          (May 16, 1997).  It was placed on Public Notice, Report No. SPB-75 (February
          10, 1997) and should not have been included on Report No. SPB-82.

          COMSAT's request is 42-SAT-STA-97.  All filings related to this request have
          been placed in the file numbered 42-SAT-STA-97.

          On May 1, 1997, Comsat Corporation's Petition for Forbearance from Dominant
          Carrier Regulation and for Reclassification as a Non-Dominant Carrier, File No.
          60-SAT-ISP-97, was placed on Public Notice (see Report No. SPB-79 (May 1,
          1997)).  PanAmSat Corporation filed a request for extension of the comment date. 
          By letter dated May 19, 1997, PanAmSat's Request was granted and the comment
          date in this proceeding was extended until June 16, 1997. All interested parties
          may file comments on Comsat's petition on or before June 16, 1997.
