We have under consideration an uncontested application, filed on September 18, 1997 by Telia North America, Inc. (Telia NA), requesting authority, pursuant to Section 214 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, to acquire and operate additional cable facilities for authorized services between the United States and Sweden. The application was placed on public notice on October 10, 1997. No comments were received. By Order, Authorization and Certificate released March 11, 1997, DA 97-511, the Commission granted authority to Telia NA to acquire and operate cable facilities for service between the United States and Sweden. By the instant order, we grant Telia NA authority to acquire and operate additional facilities for service between the United States and Sweden. 2. Upon consideration of the application and in view of the foregoing, we find that the present and future public convenience and necessity require a grant thereof. 3. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED that application File No. ITC-97-593 IS GRANTED, and Telia NA is authorized to acquire and operate circuits in the CANTAT III, Atlantic Crossing and Gemini 1 and 2 Cables for provision of authorized services between the United States and Sweden. 4. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that all terms and conditions of the Commission's above-referenced Order, Authorization and Certificate, released March 11, 1997, remain the same. 5. This Order is issued under Section 0.261 of the Commission's Rules and is effective upon adoption. Petitions for reconsideration under Section 1.106 or applications for review under Section 1.115 of the Commission's Rules may be filed within 30 days of the date of public notice of this Order (see Section 1.4(b)(2)).
