October 21, 1998 THOMAS A. BOASBERG, CHIEF COUNSEL FOR SATELLITE POLICY, INTERNATIONAL BUREAU, TO LEAVE FCC Thomas A. Boasberg, Chief Counsel for Satellite Poliy in the International Bureau, is leaving the Commission. He came to the Commission in June 1996 as a Senior Legal Advisor in the International Bureau and later that year was named Legal Advisor to former FCC Chairman Reed Hundt. He has been in his present position since November 1997. At the Commission, Boasberg took a leading role in shaping Commission policy in a number of major areas, including bi-lateral satellite protocols, the negotiation of the World Trade Organization Agreement on Basic Telecommunications, universal service and access charge reform, accounting rate reform, and merger policy.
