NEWS July 25, 1997 PETER PAPPAS NAMED ASSISTANT BUREAU CHIEF OF THE INTERNATION AL BUREAU The FCC announced today that Peter C. Pappas has joined the Commission as Assistant Chief of the International Bureau. Pappas, an attorney, comes to the Commission from the Department of State, where he has served since 1994, most recently as Director of Communications for Economic Affairs. Previously, Pappas served as an Assistant Counsel to the President in the White House Counsel's Office. Prior to joining the Clinton Administration, he had been an associate in the New York law firm of Simpson Thacher and Bartlett from 1988 - 1992. Pappas earned a B.A. with honors from Tufts University in 1981, an M.A. in Political Science from Brown University in 1982, a B.A. in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford in 1985, and a J.D. from Georgetown University in 1988. -FCC-
