            FCC ANNOUNCES THAT OFFICE OF ENGINEERING AND
       TECHNOLOGY HAS ASSUMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE
            NETWORK OUTAGE INFORMATION DATABASE
                                
                                       As of August 1, 1997, the Office of Engineering and Technology (OET)
          are the recipients of wireline outage information filed pursuant to Section
          63.100 of the Commission's Rules previously maintained by Network Services
          Division, Common Carrier Bureau.  The Network Services Division, Common
          Carrier Bureau, will no longer maintain the network outage information.  This
          function will now be supported by OET staff.
