                   FCC RELEASES OMB-APPROVED
 LOCAL COMPETITION AND BROADBAND REPORTING FORM - FCC FORM 477

     On March 24, 2000, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted the Local
Competition and Broadband Reporting Report and Order, which requires certain providers of
broadband and local telephony services to provide specific information regarding their services on
a new FCC form (FCC Form 477).  Local Competition and Broadband Reporting, Report and
Order, CC Docket No. 99-301, FCC 00-114 (rel. March 30, 2000).  The Commission adopted
this information collection to assist it and other policy makers in evaluating the effects of current
policies and regulations that seek to encourage both competition in local telephony services and
deployment of broadband services to all Americans.

     On April 6, 2000, the Office of Management and Budget granted the Federal
Communication Commission's request for approval of the information collection contained in
FCC Form 477 (OMB Control Number: 3060-0816). 

How to Obtain FCC Form 477:  FCC Form 477 is available from the Commission's web site at
www.fcc.gov/formpage.html.

Data Collection Workshop:  To assist the various entities that are required to complete Form 477,
the FCC will hold a workshop on April 17, 2000 and a follow-up Q & A session on May 1, 2000 in
the Commission's Meeting Room.  For more information about these events, see FCC Announces
