WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 DA 99-2145 News Media Information 202/418-0500 Recorded listing of releases and texts 202/418-2222 Released: October 8, 1999 COMMOM CARRER BUREAU APPROVES AMERITECH AND U S WEST NUMBER PORTABILITY REFUND PLANS On July 16, 1999, the Commission released orders concluding the investigations into the long- term number portability tariff filings of Ameritech Operating Companies (Ameritech) and U S WEST Communications, Inc. (U S WEST). In these orders, the Commission directed the companies to submit refund plans for number portability end-user and query services charges for the period prior to the release of these orders. The Commission delegated authority to the Common Carrier Bureau (Bureau) pursuant to section 0.291 of the Commission's rules to review and approve the refund plans, resolve related issues, and direct the carriers to issue refunds. On August 16, 1999, Ameritech and U S WEST filed refund plans, pursuant to these orders. The Bureau has completed its review and hereby approves the refund plans submitted by Ameritech and U S WEST. Accordingly, these carriers are directed to issue refunds in accordance with their refund plans.
