     FCC ANNOUNCES SELECTION OF TWO NEW MEMBERS TO THE
     NORTH AMERICAN NUMBERING COUNCIL (NANC)
     
     (CC Docket No. 92-237)
          
          On  November 5, 1997, the Chief, Common Carrier Bureau, accepted
     two nominations to the North American Numbering Council (NANC).  The
     nominations are Ronald J. Binz, on behalf of Competition Policy Institute
     (CPI), and Christine Walker, on behalf of NEXTLINK Communications, Inc. 
     Both will serve as voting members on the NANC.  
     
          Mr. Binz is President and Policy Director of CPI, a combination
     consumer interest and policy analysis group.  Mr. Binz previously directed the
     Colorado Office of Consumer Counsel, the state s utility consumer advocate.
     
          Ms. Walker is Director of OSS Strategy for NEXTLINK, a competitive
     local exchange carrier.  Ms. Walker also represents NEXTLINK on the
     Western Region Telephone Number Portability LLC, and previously
     represented U.S. InTelco Network s (now Illuminet) local number portability
     initiatives at ALTS, NARUC and the Industry Numbering Committee at state
     public utility commissions.
