    On October 8, 1997, the Alarm Industry Communications Committee (AICC)
filed a motion requesting that the Commission immediately order Ameritech
Corporation to show cause why its acquisition of the alarm monitoring assets of
Republic Security Company Holdings (Republic) is not in violation of section 275(a)(2)
of the Communications Act, as amended.  AICC further requests that the Commission
promptly issue a cease and desist order directing Ameritech to rescind its purchases
of Republic's assets. 

    Interested parties should file comments on AICC's motion by November 10,
1997, and reply comments by November 25, 1997, with the Secretary, FCC, 1919
M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554.  A copy should also be sent to Janice
Myles, Common Carrier Bureau, FCC, Room 544, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington,
D.C. 20554, and to the Commission's contractor for public service records duplication,
ITS, Inc., 2100 M Street, N.W., Suite 140, Washington, D.C. 20037.  Parties filing
comments in this non-docketed proceeding should include the Policy Division internal
reference number, CCBPol 97-11 on their pleadings.  The motion is available for

    The Commission treats this proceeding as a restricted proceeding pursuant to
47 C.F.R.  1.1208(c)(1)(i)(B) and (c)(1)(ii)(D).  This treatment is consistent with the
Commission's revised ex parte rules regarding restricted proceedings, which became
effective June 2, 1997.  See In the Matter of Amendment of 47 C.F.R. 1.1200 et
