          PLEADING CYCLE ESTABLISHED FOR COMMENTS ON THE
            AMENDMENT TO BELL ATLANTIC'S PLAN TO OFFER
       COMPARABLY EFFICIENT INTERCONNECTION TO PROVIDERS OF
   ENHANCED INTERNET ACCESS SERVICE IN THE NYNEX REGION STATES

     On May 5, 1997, Bell Atlantic filed an amendment to its Comparably Efficient
Interconnection (CEI) plan for Internet Access Service (IAS) seeking to expand its IAS into
states in which the NYNEX Telephone Companies currently offer local telephone service.  In its
amendment, Bell Atlantic proposes to offer IAS in NYNEX states once its merger with NYNEX
is complete.  Bell Atlantic also proposes to offer IAS in NYNEX states using a different
principal underlying basic service than is currently used in offering IAS in the Bell Atlantic
states. 

     Interested parties should file comments on Bell Atlantic's proposed amendment by June
16, 1997, and reply comments by July 1, 1997, with the Secretary, FCC, 1919 M Street, N.W.,
Washington, D.C. 20554.  A copy should also be sent to Janice Myles, Common Carrier Bureau,
FCC, Room 544, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554, and to the Commission's
contractor for public service records duplication, ITS, Inc., 2100 M Street, N.W., Suite 140,
Washington, D.C. 20037.  Parties filing comments in this non-docketed proceeding should
include the Policy Division internal reference number, CCBPol 96-09, on their pleadings.  The
proposed amendment to Bell Atlantic's CEI plan is available for inspection and copying in the
Common Carrier Bureau's Public Reference Room, Room 575, 2000 M Street, N.W.,
