         AMERITECH'S PLAN TO PROVIDE COMPARABLY EFFICIENT
   INTERCONNECTION TO PROVIDERS OF ELECTRONIC VAULTING SERVICE

     On February 27, 1997, Ameritech filed a plan to provide Comparably Efficient
Interconnection (CEI) to vendors of Electronic Vaulting Service, as required by the Bureau's January
1995 Order Bell Operating Companies Joint Petition for Waiver of Computer II Rules, 10 FCC Rcd
1724 (Com. Car. Bur. 1995).  According to Ameritech, Electronic Vaulting Service is designed to
address the needs of customers for elective storage and retrieval of critical data in an off-site vaulting
center.  

     Interested parties should file comments on Ameritech's CEI plan by April 10, 1997, and
reply comments by April 24, 1997, with the Secretary, FCC, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington,
D.C. 20554.  A copy should also be sent to Janice Myles, Common Carrier Bureau, FCC, Room 544,
1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554, and to the Commission's contractor for public
service records duplication, ITS, Inc., 2100 M Street, N.W., Suite 140, Washington, D.C. 20037. 
Parties filing comments in this non-docketed proceeding should include the Policy Division internal
reference number, CCBPol 97-03 on their pleadings.  The Ameritech CEI plan is available for
inspection and copying in the Common Carrier Bureau's Public Reference Room, Room 575, 2000
