Washington, D.C. 20554 DA 97-71 PLEADING CYCLE ESTABLISHED ON CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC UTILITY CONTROL'S PETITION FOR RECONSIDERATION CCBPol 96-11 Released: January 13, l997 On January 8, 1997, the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control (DPUC) filed a petition seeking reconsideration of the Commission's decision in New England Public Communications Council Petition for Preemption Pursuant to Section 253, FCC 96-470, Memorandum Opinion and Order, CCBPol 96-11, (rel. Dec. 10, 1996). In this Order, the Commission granted the petition of the New England Public Communications Council (NEPCC) and preempted a decision of the DPUC regarding the provision of payphone services in Connecticut. In its petition for reconsideration, the DPUC argues that the Commission's decision is contrary to the provisions of section 253(b) of the Communications Act, as amended. Interested parties should file comments on the DPUC petition by January 23, 1997,and reply comments by January 30, 1997, with the Secretary, FCC, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554. In addition, two copies should be sent to Janice Myles, Common Carrier Bureau, FCC, Room 544, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554, and one copy should be sent to the Commission's contractor for public service records duplication, ITS, Inc., 2100 M Street, N.W., Suite 140, Washington, D.C. 20037. Parties filing comments in this non-docketed proceeding should include the Policy Division internal reference number, CCBPol 96-11, on their pleadings.
