PRELIMINARY DOMESTIC INFORMATION
FROM STATISTICS OF COMMUNICATIONS COMMON CARRIERS
RELEASED BY FCC


     The FCC has released a compilation of financial and
operating
data concerning domestic communications carriers for the year
ending December 31, 1994.  The "Statistics of Communications
Common
Carriers," issued annually since 1939, is the standard reference
work for telecommunications data.

     Annual reports from carriers arrive at different times
throughout the year.  Because the information from the domestic
telecommunications carriers arrives earlier, the Commission has
prepared that segment of the publication first.  The tables being
released today are labeled "preliminary"  because some
corrections
and additions are still being received.

     Copies of the annual reports are made available in the
public
reference room of the Industry Analysis Division as soon as they
are received.  The compendium of financial and operating data
being
released today for the 1994 calendar year is drawn primarily from
the annual reports.

     The report is available for reference in the Industry
Analysis
Division Reference Room, Common Carrier Bureau, 1919 M Street,
N.W., Room 533.  Copies may be purchased by calling International
