Commission Announces Effectiveness of Satellite Home Viewer Improvement Act of 1999
Retransmission Consent Good Faith Negotiation and Exclusivity Rules

     On March 16, 2000, the Commission released Implementation of the Satellite Home Viewer
Improvement Act of 1999, Retransmission Consent Issues: Good Faith Negotiation and Exclusivity, First
Report and Order, CS Docket No. 99-363, FCC 00-99 (rel. March 16, 2000) ("Order").  In the Order, the
Commission stated that the rules adopted therein would be effective upon publication in the Federal Register. 
The Order and rules were published in the March 23, 2000 volume of the Federal Register. Accordingly, the
rules related to good faith negotiation of retransmission consent and the prohibition of exclusive
retransmission consent agreements adopted in the Order are effective.
