REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM COMMISSION'S CLOSED CAPTIONING RULES
                            CSR 5459

Pursuant to Section 79.1 of the Commission's rules, 47 C.F.R.  79.1, Home Shopping Club L.P
("HSC") filed a petition for exemption from the closed captioning requirements for its electronic retail
programming, including two separate services   The Home Shopping Network and America's Store. 
Comments and oppositions to HSC's petition must be filed within 30 days of the release of this public notice. 
Petitioner's reply is due 20 days thereafter. All filings should reference the case identifier assigned to this
proceeding, CSR 5459.
