PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION 1919 M STREET, N.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 News media information 202/418-0500 Fax-On-Demand 202/418-2830 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov ftp.fcc.gov Report No. CS 98-3 CABLE SERVICES ACTION March 19, 1998 COMMISSION'S NEW RULES REGARDING CABLE HOME WIRING AND MVPD HOME RUN WIRING EFFECTIVE MARCH 13, 1998 The Commission's new rules relating to the disposition of cable home wiring and home run wiring of multichannel video programming distributors ("MVPDs"), as well as signal leakage and interference from MVPDs, became effective on March 13, 1998. These amendments to Sections 76.613, 76.802 and 76.804 of the Commission's rules were set forth in the Report and Order and Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in CS Docket No. 95-184 and MM Docket No. 92-260, FCC 97-376 ("Order"), released October 17, 1997, and published in the Federal Register on November 14, 1997 at 62 FR 61016. Because these amended rules imposed new or modified information collection requirements, they could not become effective until they were approved by the Office of Management and Budget ("OMB"), pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The Order stated that the rules as amended therein would become effective upon approval by OMB, and that the Commission would publish a document announcing the effective date of the rules. OMB approved the rule changes on March 13, 1998. In addition, compliance with Sections 76.5, 76.620, 76.800, 76.805 and 76.806 of the Commission's rules, as amended in the Order, is required as of March 13, 1998.
