         UNIFORM CABLE PRICE-SETTING METHODOLOGY RULES REQUIRING
             OMB APPROVAL EFFECTIVE AS OF SEPTEMBER 4, 1997


      On March 14, 1997, the Commission released a Report and Order (FCC 97-86) establishing rules
for an optional rate-setting methodology that would enable a cable operator to establish uniform rates for
uniform cable service tiers offered in multiple franchise areas. The rules, among other things, amended
47 CFR  76.922.  Because they imposed new information collection requirements, these particular rule
changes could not become effective until approved by the Office of Management and Budget ("OMB")
pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, Pub. L. No. 104-13.  OMB approved these rule
changes on September 4, 1997.  

      The Commission stated that it would publish a document notifying the public as to the effective
date of the rule changes.  See Uniform Cable Price-Setting Methodology, 62 FR 15121 (1997). 
Accordingly, the Commission will publish a document in the Federal Register notifying the public that
the effective date for the amendments to 47 C.F.R.  76.922 is September 4, 1997.
