PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION 1919 M STREET, N.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 DA 96-1582 News media information 202/418-0500 Fax-On-Demand 202/418-2830 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov ftp.fcc.gov CABLE SERVICES ACTION September 19, 1996 CABLE SERVICES BUREAU ANNOUNCES EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION FOR CENTURY COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION The Cable Services Bureau is extending the period for filing comments in Century Communications Corporation, Resolution of Rate Complaints, Order, FCC 96-359 (released Aug. 23, 1996 ("Order"). The Commission is seeking comment on the Proposed Resolution received from Century Communications Corporation ("Century") to resolve rate complaints in certain communities in the Los Angeles, California area. The City of Santa Monica, California ("City") filed a Motion for Extension of time on September 18, 1996, requesting that the comment period be extended from September 23, 1996 to October 7, 1996, so that the jurisdictions affected by the proposal will have time to review the recent rate filings Century submitted as part of the resolution proposal. The City recites that such an extension is in the public interest since it will permit franchising authorities in jurisdictions subject to the Proposed Resolution to determine whether the Proposed Resolution is in the best interest of subscribers. The City states that counsel for Century has consented to the requested extension. For good cause shown, the Bureau is extending the deadline for filing comments to October 7, 1996 and reply comments to October 22, 1996. The Order and the attached Proposed Resolution are available for reference in the Cable Services Bureau's public reference room, Room 333, 2023 M Street, N.W., Washington, DC.
