PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION 1919 M STREET, N.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 News media information 202/418-0500. Recorded listing of releases and texts 202/632-0002. Report No. CS 96-9 CABLE SERVICES ACTION DA 96-199 February 15, 1996 Electronic Version of FCC Form 1240 Now A vailable In Lotus 1-2-3 Format On September 22, 1995, the Commission released a Thirteenth Order on Reconsideration in MM Docket No. 92-266, Implementation of Sections of the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992: Rate Regulation ("Order"), FCC 95-397, 60 FR 52106 (October 5, 1995), establishing a new optional rate adjustment methodology. On December 15, 1995, the Office of Management and Budget approved the Commission's new FCC Form 1240, which implements that methodology. See Public Notice, OMB Approves FCC Form 1240 (Annual Updating of Maximum Permitted Rate for Regulated Cable Services), DA 96-7 (January 11, 1996). A computer spreadsheet version of FCC Form 1240 is now available in two new formats: Lotus 1-2-3 for DOS Version 3.1 and Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows Version 4.0. These versions of the computerized FCC Form 1240 are available on floppy disks from the Commission's duplicating contractor, International Transcription Service (ITS), at (202) 857-3800. Copies are also available on the Commission's Internet site at the following addresses: http://www.fcc.gov/Forms/Form1240/index.html ftp://ftp.fcc.gov/pub/Forms/Form1240/ Each computer version of FCC Form 1240 will come in the form of a self extracting zip file (SEZF). The SEZF for the Lotus for DOS 3.1 version is called 1240l311.exe. The SEZF for the Lotus for Windows 4.0 version is called 1240l411.exe. Both of these files contain several separate files: the spreadsheet version of Form 1240, a WordPerfect For Windows 5.1 copy of the instructions, a text file version of the instructions, and text file with instructions on how to use the computer version, and a small "readme" text file describing the SEZF's contents. To open the SEZF, copy it to an empty directory on your computer's hard drive. Then, go to the Windows Program Manager, select "file" and "run", and type into the provided space the path and name of the SEZF. For example, if you have put the Lotus 1-2-3 for DOS 3.1 SEZF in a directory called "c:\1240", you would type "c:\1240\1240l311.exe". Next, press the "OK" button to run the program. When the program is finished running, the "c:\1240" directory will have several files in it: the original SEZF and the files described in the preceding paragraph. You can now use your Lotus 1-2-3 to access the spreadsheet version of FCC Form 1240. Media contact: Morgan Broman (202) 416-0852; Cable Services Bureau Contacts: Alex Byron at (202) 416- 0800. --FCC--
