In this Order, we address a Motion for an Extension of Time filed by Comcast Cablevision of the South ("Comcast") on November 29, 1996. Comcast requests additional time in which to file its petition for reconsideration of an order recently issued by the Cable Services Bureau. As explained below, we grant Comcast's Motion. 2. Pursuant to Section 1.46 (b) of the Commission's rules concerning extensions of time, Comcast requests that we extend the deadline for filing its petition for reconsideration from December 9, 1996 to December 16, 1996. Comcast provides several grounds in support of its request. According to Comcast, it recently acquired TeleScripps Cable Company ("TeleScripps"). As a result, Comcast argues that it was not aware of the facts surrounding the resolution of the cable programming services tier complaint, the response filed by TeleScripps or discussions between the parties. 3. Although it is the policy of the Commission that extensions of time shall not be routinely granted, we believe that the facts in this proceeding warrant granting Comcast's request. Specifically, Comcast recently acquired TeleScripps and did not participate in the complaint process which resulted in a refund liability. Therefore, we believe that extending the deadline for filing Comcast's petition for reconsideration to December 16, 1996 is appropriate and serves the public interest. 4. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, pursuant to Section 1.46 of the Commission's rules, that Comcast's Motion for An Extension of Time, IS GRANTED. 5. This action is taken pursuant to delegated authority under Section 0.321 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R. Commission's rules, 47 C.F.R. 0.321. FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Meredith J. Jones Chief, Cable Services Bureau
